Made stool top with leather!

happy first advent, everyone!

this happened before Christmas season is coming.
One day, the owner of the workshop brought me these two stools and told me that I need to make the top of those stools with leather instead of those red cushions. Since those stools are for my colleagues who will work at the Christmas market.
今週からいよいよドイツは各地でクリスマスマーケットが始まり、工房も１０月下旬から大忙しでした。
この、繁忙期に入る前・・・
オーナーがこの2台のスツールを持ってきて、この赤いクッションを外して、トップを革張りにしてくれと・・・

因みにこのスツールはクリスマスマーケットで職人がベルトを作るときに使用しています。

so, first I cut these urethane and made few layers on top then covered like this below to make it comfy.
そこで、まず座り心地の良い座面を作るため、ウレタンのシートを座面の形に切り何層か重ね、その上で座面をカバーし留めました。

Then covered with this fluffy sheet and hand stitched!

そして、さらに座り心地をよくすため、この綿上のシートを手縫いで縫い付けます。

then cut around the edge like this.

縫い終わったら、きれいに端を切りそろえ・・・

 covered the top with completely wet leather and to stretched so hard and staple it to make the top beautifully covered (without having any shrink). then let it dry.

事前に水に浸してびしょびしょの状態の革を座面にかぶせ、端をペンチで引っ張りながら、留めていきます。革は乾くときに形が固定されるので、ゆるみ、やしわが全くない状態になるように力いっぱい引っ張りながら留めます。
その後、革が完全に乾くまで待ちます。（丸一日以上）

after the leather dried re-stapled (this time beautifully circled) and cut the rest of the leather.

and polished legs of the stools with sand paper and painted like this.

革が乾いたら、ランダムに止めていた部分をきれいな円状になるように留めなおし、余った革を切りそろえます。

その後、スツールの足部分をやすりで磨き、ペンキで2度塗りします。

 

Now, this stool is working at the Christmas market! 🙂
was my first time to make it though was so much fun!

I would love to try to make these things not only small stuff!

今、このスツールは今週からクリスマスマーケットで働いてます！
家具のリメイクをレザーでするのは初めてだったけど、楽しかった！
これから、小物だけでなくこういうものもやっていけたらいいなー・・・と思ってます！：）

ストーム

昨日のベルリンは超強風で、午後から動物園やら学校など閉鎖となるほど。

私は普通に工房で仕事してましたが、子供がいる人たちは早めに迎えにくるようにと連絡が入るほど。

夕方帰ろうと外に出たら街路樹の太い枝が折れて道を塞ぎまくって、上からこれも落ちてきたらどうしよう・・・と怖くなり・・・

やっとバスに乗れたと思ったら、突然、「このバスはここまでで運航終了！」と全員降りることに。

確かに、ダブルデッカーのバスで乗ってる時も風で横にぐらぐら揺れてたから、ちょっと怖いな。。。と思ってたけど。

で、この時すでに電車は運航停止状態。残るは地下鉄！ってことで、みんな地下鉄になだれ込み、ホームはここ、東京？っていうほどの人だかり。

電車は5分おきに来るけれど、すでに満員状態で1回に乗れる人数は数人。

何本も見送りあぁ・・・最悪。って思ってたけど、乗ってみると、東京と違うところは、あのすし詰め状態でみんな結構協力的！
外から無理に乗ってこようと押してくる人に中から「もう無理！次のに乗って！」と叫び、停車駅ごとに必ずだれかか「降りたい人ー？！」と叫ぶ。走行中も、だれかが「なんか、これ、東京みたいじゃない？」と（ネット動画などで見て知ってる。）話し出すと近くの人たちも冗談を言い合い楽しそう。

東京はこれが毎日だから確かにみんなこんなもの。と思ってやり過ごしてるし、耐えるしかない状況だけど、一瞬東京のラッシュ時を思い出してやっぱ、ここドイツだ。笑　となりました。

結局地下鉄で中心部までは帰れたけど、そこから家までトラムに乗ろうとしたらトラムも運航停止というオチだったけど徒歩で帰れる距離でよかった。

今日はストームも去って、またグレーな空模様のベルリンです。
